Mexico Ernesto Perez - Washed
Ethiopia Gogogu Bekaka - Washed
Guatemala Santa Clara - Honey
A coffee that tastes, appropriately, like the holiday.
Here’s the backstory:
”To me, this time of year is synonymous with my Grandmaman Nichole’s baking and cooking. For my entire life, in perfect French Canadian fashion, the holidays brought cookies, canelés, pies, tourtières, Bûche de Noël (yule log cake), copious amounts of cheese, and of course - fruit cake.
Needless to say, this year our holiday celebrations are going to be a bit more unusual, with families having to remain apart. BUT, that didn’t stop Nichole from sending us a slice of tradition. So, she made two beautiful, Brandy-soaked fruit cakes from scratch and shipped them off to us, all the way from Québec.
The idea for the blend came to me while digging into that fruit cake, and is my way of re-creating my favourite part of the holidays. Ernesto Perez’s coffee contributes the pastry-like undertones, and rich, nutty baking spice notes. The washed coffee from Guji, Ethiopia brings the candied fruit, and the honey process from Santa Clara Estate in Guatemala adds a gingerbread-y, caramelly richness and warmth to the cup. All in all - Grandmaman Nichole’s Fruit Cake, express-shipped from Québec.
