Slavek Pytraczyk

July 25 to Sept. 18, 2021

Kaffeeklatsch

Born in Bielsko-Biała, Poland, Slavek Pytraczyk lives & works in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

His process involves combining multiple layers of imagery, often showcasing themes of urban decay and abandonment. These urban neglected spaces—often seen as "eyesores"—are prevalent in his current body of work, in which he calls attention to what many consider "insignificant". By applying several images along side and over top of one another, he attempts to guide attention to spaces and structures that often go overlooked.

Kaffeeklatsch will host Slavek's art until September 18.

In the spirit In the spirit of respect, reconciliation, and truth, we honour and acknowledge that we live, work, and play on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), and all people who call the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta home.

We remain mindful of the ongoing impacts of colonization and land rights, both here and in Indigenous communities worldwide, particularly within the coffee agribusiness.
